Dan and Sue Kahklen have broken through a culture warp. Dan, a full-blooded Thlinget Indian, is from the Raven Dog Salmon Clan of southeast Alaska. His wife, Sue, is half Thlinget, of the Eagle Wolf Clan. But if you think they live in a cabin, wear moccasins, and paddle to the next village in a kayak, try again.
The Kahklans live in Alaska's capital, Juneau, and own their own two-bedroom, two-bath trailer complete with microwave, food processor, and phone-answering machine.
