1400s: First migration to Michigan's lower peninsula. The Odawas, Ojibwas and Potawatomi initially were a single tribe.
1634: First known contact with white civilization.
1641: Potawatomi were driven into Wisconsin by the Iroquois Confederacy.
1750-60: Potawatomi sided with French in Seven-Year War. The French lost and the Potawatomi entered into an alliance with the British.
1776: At the start of the Revolutionary War, the Potawatomi remained neutral. Eventually they sided with the British.
