Not all TPOs are created equal
It should be no surprise that reinforced TPO roofing membranes have taken the single-ply industry by storm since their introduction nearly 10 years ago. Like EPDMs, TPOs offer the long-term weathering performance of rubber, as well as chemical resistance and cold temperature flexibility. Yet, like PVCs, they can be hot-air-welded to create seams as strong as the membrane itself. TPOs are also scrim-reinforced for puncture resistance, and come in a variety of colors -- including energy-efficient white, which can reflect the sun's rays and provide substantial savings on cooling costs.
