It's not, in the words of Jethro Bodine, just a "cement pond" anymore.
Swimming pools have always been a luxury item, a status symbol, as well as a place for exercise and recreation. But gone are the days when homeowners were happy with a simple rectangle, even one with the palatial backdrop of "The Beverly Hillbillies" mansion.
Now pools behind even modest homes have waterfalls, swim-out shelves with spa jets, self-cleaning appliances and pebble-like surfaces -- making them more of a back yard resort than just a place for splashing around with the kids.
