Intrepid adventurer and mineral dealer Rock Currier traveled to Darkest Africa (The Congo) in 1997, searching for malachite, carrollite, cobaltoan calcite, uranium minerals, and other treasures. Here is his report on the condition of some of the famous Congolese mines at that time, what he was able to obtain there, and what he had to go through to get it. In the 19th century, Africa was called "the dark continent," and only its general outline and the mouths of some of its rivers were known.
