There are over 40 producing oil and gas fields in Turkmenistan. Oil and condensate production now is averaging a little less than 200,000 b/d and is planned to reach 270,000 b/d in 2003, up from 160,876 b/d in 2001, 143,600 b/d in 2000 and 81,000 b/d in 1995. Production of natural gas this year is planned to reach 71 BCM, compared to 51.3 BCM; but actual output may not reach 70 BCM as government targets are often missed.
