PROJECT OVERVIEW:
The manufacturing reduction at aluminum smelters in the US Pacific Northwest has resulted in a market supply gap. And according to Bruce Hall, CEO of Bahrain-based ALUMINIUM BAHRAIN (ALBA), North American producers will not be able to maintain aluminum production at current levels considering the high price of energy. Consequently, since the Persian Gulf has abundant supplies of natural gas for power generation, ALBA is now planning a major expansion project. An initial undertaking will reportedly involve increasing its production output by 300,000 tons per year (t/y) up to 810,000 t/y.
