Every visitor to Cape Town, South Africa, must take the cable car to the top of Table Mountain. Your local hosts will be uncommonly disappointed if you don't.

The view, of course, is splendid. And you are advised to be on the lookout for rock dassies, a curious rodent-like creature.

The rock dassies were absent when I was wandering on Table Mountain. Perhaps they were visiting the famed South African wine country.
