Tracking assets, including vehicles, cargo, inventory and even mobile workers, is fast becoming an essential management process for transportation and mobile workforce operations. While this activity reflects a growing need in distribution and service operations for real-time, accurate information, these operations are now faced with choosing the technology that best meets this need.
Among the tracking and monitoring options available today is a rapidly advancing technology known as RFID. In the simplest of terms, Radio Frequency Identification is the use of radio frequency signals to provide automatic identification of vehicles, cargo, individual items, and even people. It can also be used to activate and control various functions.
