We apologise to readers for returning yet again to the Biocidal Products Directive but it continues its inexorable march. The next "milestone" is that all applications to identify or notify active substances must be made to the European Chemical Bureau, who will co-ordinate this phase of the process, by 28 March 2002. IUCLID software has to be used, via the "Oracle" database. No one would disagree with the intentions of the Directive, to ensure maximum safety in the choice and use of biocides and to minimise risk to the environment.
