PROJECT OVERVIEW:
Canada-based INCO LTD which operates a nickel mine in New Caledonia recently awarded a power plant construction contract to ELYO of France. According to the terms of the award, the French company will be responsible for building a power station with an installed generating capacity of 100 Mw.
In so doing, the project is to be implemented on the basis of a build-operate (BO) scheme. And, the concession is expected to last for 25 years.
