Legislation affecting credit professionals has been introduced in both the House and the Senate on two issues: bankruptcy and privacy. The bankruptcy bill has been kicking around for several years and is actually close to passing--if one last issue can be resolved. The privacy legislation is relatively new, and there are different versions circling in the Senate and House of Representatives.
Bankruptcy Bill
At this writing, Schumer is not budging on the issue, which is not included in the House version of the bill. If this issue is not resolved, it could stall the bankruptcy bill indefinitely.
