Its complex at Umm Said has three plants producing ammonia and urea with the latest, Qafco-3, officially inaugurated on March 24, 1997. The company is having a fourth plant, Qafco-4, built with a capacity of 660,000 t/y of ammonia and 1m t/y of urea by 2004. This will cost $535m. Krupp Uhde of Germany got the $420m EPC contract for Qafco-4 on Sept. 5, 2001. The financing was completed in September 2001, with Societe Generale being the adviser.
