Many of our readers are likely to be surprised by this special issue of MANUSHI devoted exclusively to the routine abuse of animals in "scientific" experiments. MANUSHI has never so far taken any note of animal rights issues. At a personal level, I am not even a vegetarian nor do I claim much knowledge or understanding of animal world.
