There are over 40 producing oil and gas fields in Turkmenistan. Oil and condensate production at present is averaging about 200,000 b/d, up from 162,000 b/d in 2001, and 84,000 b/d in 1995.
Production of natural gas this year is planned to reach 63-64 BCM, compared to 59.09 billion cubic metres (BCM) in 2003. But government targets are often missed. Natural gas production during the first half of 2004 increased 3.9% year-on-year to 32 BCM. Oil production remained unchanged at 4.7m tons.
