Party membership in all the significant current party organisations in Latvia and Lithuania is the empirical focus in this article. (1) The figures of party membership in these Baltic states 1995-2000 are introduced, and the country mean party membership too. The latter is the dependent variable here. Which are the independent variables influencing these different national levels of party membership? That is the main research question that this paper sets out to answer.
