About the Author Peter Spellman is Director of Career Development at Berklee College of Music, Boston and the author of several handbooks for music entrepreneurs, including "The Self-Promoting Musician: Strategies for Independent Music Success" (2000, Berklee Press) and "The Musicians Internet: Online Strategies for Success in the Music Industry" (2002, Berklee Press). He also wrote the chapter on Internet promotion for the 2nd and 3rd editions of "The Musicians Business and Legal Guide" (1996, 2001, Prentice-Hall/Jerome Hedlands), the most used music business textbook in U.S. colleges and universities. A recognized expert on music industry trends, the impact of the Internet on music, and music career issues, Peter is a popular speaker at colleges, universities, and music conferences around the country. Peter has over twenty years' experience as a performing and recording musician and is also President of Music Business Solutions, a business and marketing consultancy for independent musicians, songwriters and music businesses. From 1985-1991 he ran the Mighty Music record label out of Salem, Massachusetts. In addition, Peter teaches courses on entrepreneurship, music publishing, and music marketing at the University of Massachusetts-Lowell and debuted his first online course last fall at Berkleemusic.com.
