"The influence of the surviving local population can be felt more strongly in more easterly areas, and can be demonstrated in the everyday tools and implements of the Celts, as well as their spiritual life and ritual practice.

Booknews
Nearly halfway through its projected seven volumes, the series here moves to finds that came to light between 1945 and 1979 in Pest, Ngrd, Heves, and Borsod-Abaj-Zempln counties, and are currently housed in regional museums. Hellebrandt, who directed many of the excavations herself, admits that the time constraints are porous, and that the catalog includes earlier finds that either have not been published or should be republished or one reason or another, and some exciting recent finds from the area that she could not resist mentioning. Drawings, diagrams, maps, and monochrome photographs accompany the text. The US distribution is by ISBS. Annotation c. Book News, Inc., Portland, OR (booknews.com)
