John Calvin on the Visions of Ezekiel: Historical, Hermeneutical, and Exegetical Studies in Calvin's Sermons Inedits, Especially on Ezek. 36-48 SYNOPSIS A minister of the Reformed Churches, de Boer (Theological U. of Kampen, the Netherlands, and ecclesiology, U. of Free State, South Africa) here revises the first part of his 1999 Ph.D. dissertation, Calvin on the Visions of Ezekiel, as a prelude to a second volume that will present a critical edition of sermons 160-175 themselves, which the Geneva reformer delivered between 1552 and 1654 and are yet to be published from manuscripts held at the University of Geneva. He begins by reviewing the history of exegesis on Ezekiel, then looks at Calvin's views of visionary revelation in general before detailing his commentary on the specific passages.
