India-Pakistan (Odense University Studies in History and Social Sciences Vol. 210): The History of Unsolved Conflicts: Volumes 1&2 FROM THE PUBLISHER
Now in its 50th year, the Indo-Pakistan conflict is one of the world's most persistent areas of turmoil since World War II. Lars Blinkenberg, formerly in the Danish diplomatic service in both India and Pakistan, has written a comprehensive historical and political study of the conflict. His cleanly written work first addresses the historical background to the conflict in volume 1, and then it analyzes the many structural factors of the political setting in India in volume 2. He also includes interviews with several integrally involved players in the conflict.

Booknews
A two-volume analysis by a former Danish ambassador to India. The first volume is a reedition of the author's 1972 work on the subject, covering the period from 1947 to 1972. This volume looks at the various failed peace efforts by the UN, the British, and the involved states themselves. The second volume focuses on how the conflict situation was handled by the Indian Government in the early period after Independence. The role of major personalities in the conflict are considered, as well as the Kashmir conflict, the religious issue, and the conflict in international perspective. The second volume has no index.
