SYNOPSIS
Published to accompany an exhibition held at the Museum for Applied Arts in Frankfurt, this catalogue presents a full analysis of the American architect Richard Meier's works in art and design, and of the architecture of the Museum itself, which he designed. Fischer, curator of the design department at the MAA, has written essays on Meier's furniture, tableware, ceramics, collage, and sculpture, examples of which are featured in high-quality b&w and color plates. A final, lengthy section describes the MAA, its history, construction, and goals as a museum and educational institution. There are 33 pages of plans, drawings, and color plates of all parts of the museum. Text is in side-by-side German and English. There is no index. The volume, which is oversize (9.75x12"), is distributed in the US by the National Book Network. Annotation ©2003 Book News, Inc., Portland, OR
