The book takes account of EN 1337 standards, which are binding on a European level. It also takes into account the latest experiences gained in practice as well as on the basis of recent tests, and includes examples for the correct placing of bearings and dampers.

About the Author
Helmut Eggert studied structural engineering in, gaining his doctorate under Professor Klöppel. Following several years working in different construction companies he joined the Institut für Bautechnik in 1969. He was the department head responsible for metal engineering and bearings until he left the institute in July 2000.
