Basics of Cryosurgery
- Book Review,
by Nikolai N. Korpan (Editor)

Book Description
Basics of Cryosurgery is the first publication specialising in the fundamentals of modern cryosurgery. It is dedicated to surgeons and all doctors and specialists throughout the world - especially those working in cryosurgery and cryotechnology, who, in their devotion to advancing medical science, are helping patients in their fight against malignant tumours. This book presents what is currently known in modern cryosurgery and is the first on the subject to appear at the start of the third millennium. It aims to contribute to the further development of this branch of medicine, which is set to become indispensable in treating patients. Basics of Cryosurgery is a unique contribution - no previous work has compiled in one source all available scientific data on the theoretical, experimental, and clinical investigations that have been undertaken in the field of cryosurgery. The chapters were written by authorities in the field who have not only experienced the triumphs but have learnt from their own and others' failures, and how to avoid these, and who have helped many patients to escape what had previously seemed an inevitable outcome.

Basics of Cryosurgery

FROM THE CRITICS

Doody Review Services

Reviewer: Benjamin Philosophe, MD, PhD (University of Maryland School of Medicine)Description: This is a comprehensive review of the literature and experience of cryosurgery. Purpose: It is intended to provide an overview of the field. Audience: The audience is primarily medical and surgical specialists, particularly in oncology, but the book may also benefit medical students, residents, and nonspecialists. Features: There is great variabiliy in the "feel" of the book. In some chapters, the organization is good, there is little repetition, and the details are well presented. Other areas, however, feel disorganized and lack cohesion as if one chapter was written independent of the next. This tends to create repetition with varied writing styles. There is no evidence of a template format that would provide consistency throughout the book. This may be reflective of the editing. In essence, this gives an appearance of disorganization. Assessment: The book, however, comprehensively covers the field of cryosurgery and it is the best, and perhaps the only, review of its kind.
