Book Description
Harry Anastasiou, peace activist and educator, takes the struggle for reconciliation in his native Cyprus as a model for understanding the destructive nature of nationalism everywhere. This highly interdisciplinary work makes complex problems-and their potential solutions-accessible to both students and general readers. Anastasiou's approach reveals features and patterns of nationalism in inter-ethnic conflict in ways that bring new understanding to ethnic divisions in other parts of the world.
The author of numerous articles, Harry Anastasiou has taught conflict resolution in Cyprus, Canada and the United States. He has held or holds distinguished positions on several world bodies, including the Institute of World Affairs Office of the Eastern Mediterranean and the Middle East. Currently, he is a professor in the Conflict Resolution Program at Portland State University.
