Best 100 Love Poems in Spanish: Bilingual English Spanish SYNOPSIS
Love reigns supreme more than any other theme in poetry, and there are as many versions as there are human beings: it is the theme renovating itself ad infinitum.
It is not an easy task to select the one hundred best love poems in the literary production of any country. The production of amorous poetry in Spanish is so extended, that one could easily put together an anthology of the best poems written in each and every Spanish speaking country (some already exist and are well known, like the volume of amorous poetry in Columbia, entitled "Sentimentario," selected by Darfo Haramillo Agudelo, published in 1987.) One can also imagine an anthology of thousands of love poems from all over the Spanish speaking world. One can also imagine an anthology from the work of only a few poets of the Spanish Golden Ages, or with only modernist poets from Latin America, whose love poems, especially sonnets, sound like perfect apollonian, compositions, thanks to their richness and musical harmony, their alliterations and rhymes. Love, nevertheless, has continued and will continue to inspire poets and a special anthology however limited would be partial without the inclusion of contemporary poets.
Poets include: Becquer, Silva, Lorca, Garcilao, de Terrazas, Neruda, and others.
