by Jean-Michel Glachant (Editor)
Competition in European Electricity Markets: A Cross-Country Comparison SYNOPSIS The 14 papers of this collection present analyses of the process and effectiveness of the deregulation and reform of electricity markets in Europe, with consideration when relevant of the impact of the EU Directive 96/92 on electricity markets. The papers are grouped into three parts; the early reforms that were instituted in the UK, Norway, Sweden, and Finland; somewhat later reforms in Denmark, Germany, Austria, and Switzerland; and reforms in Latin and Southern Europe, i.e., France, Belgium, Italy, Spain, and Portugal. Issues including tariffs, competition, geography, institutional and organizational conditions, among other factors are considered as these vary for each country. The contributors are economists from the countries considered who work for industry, consulting firms, and academic institutions. Annotation ©2003 Book News, Inc., Portland, OR
