About the Author Scott H. Faulring is a research historian at the Joseph Fielding Smith Institute for Latter-day Saint History at Brigham Young University. Kent P. Jackson is a professor of ancient scripture at BYU. He holds a Ph.D. in ancient Near Eastern and biblical studies and is a prolific author. Robert J. Matthews is also the author of many books, including "A Plainer Translation" : Joseph Smiths Translation of the Bible. He has served as dean of Religious Education at BYU and as a member of the Scriptures Publications Committee of the Church.
