Electron and Photon Confinement in Semiconductor Nanostructures, Vol. 150 - Book Review,
by B. Deveaud (Editor)

From Book News, Inc. Material collected here originated from lectures delivered at a summer 2002 course of the "Enrico Fermi" School. The purpose of the course was to give an overview of the physics of artificial semiconductor structures confining electrons and photons. Focus is on the electronic and optical properties of confined semiconductor structures such as quantum wells, quantum wires, quantum dots, and semiconductor microcavities. Specific topics examined include the electronic states in heterostructures, semiconductor Bloch equations for classical and quantum fields, phonons and electron-phonon interaction in nanostructures, and exciton-polaritons in confined systems. Other topics are lasing in low-dimensional systems, designing photonic crystals, and quantum cascade lasers. There is no subject index.Copyright © 2004 Book News, Inc., Portland, OR
