A Lark on the Wing (Indigo: Sensuous Love Stories)
- Book Review,
by Phyllis Hamilton

Book Description
"Don’t cry when you ask a question and don’t get the answer that you want to hear. Whether or not you choose to believe it, this issue is not a question of love…love isn’t some magical spell than can change who I am, my basic makeup. My personality today is the same as it was the day that I was born, and it will be the same on the day that I die. Love can’t change that, at least not the human kind. You keep that in mind as you envision your happily ever after future." To categorized A LARK ON THE WING as simply being another romance, filled with hearts, flowers, and all of the right sentiment in all of the right places would be way too easy. The novel’s main characters, Sedona Tinney and Austin James, each desire the other to somehow make up for the hurts and broken promises that litter their pasts. Sedona’s tenuous relationship with her ex-husband, her unexpected pregnancy, and the strained relationship that she has with her mother make her particular vulnerable to Austin. Austin, a career Navy physician was never the hearts and flowers sort. He is jaded when it comes to love. This sentiment becomes even more entrenched with the suicide of his sister and re-emergence of his alcoholic father. Both, Austin and Sedona, must learn the lessons of acceptance and forgiveness before they can truly love.

From the Inside Flap
"Don’t worry, as long as I’m around, you’ll always be safe." "How long will that be?" Holding his gaze, she felt her breath catch…Please Lord; let him say what I need to hear. And here lies the heart of Sedona Tinney’s and Austin James’ journey -each wanting the other to somehow make up for the hurts and broken promises that littered their pasts. Sedona’s tenuous relationship with her ex and the strained relationship that she has with her mother make her particular vulnerable to Austin. Austin, a career Navy physician, was never the hearts and flowers sort. He is jaded when it comes to love; a sentiment that becomes even more entrenched with the suicide of his sister and the re-emergence of his alcoholic father. Austin and Sedona learn the hard lesson that a match made in heaven can be just as easily turned into a cruel and twisted prank of Cupid. Phyllis Hamilton has enjoyed writing for much of her life. Along with writing she is associated with a Dallas based law office as a mediator. Like any good writer, she loves to read and research

About the Author
Born and raised in Chicago, Ms. Hamilton is a former college administrator and a graduate of the University of Nebraska. She holds a Bachelor of Journalism degree and has worked as a freelance writer in the Dallas, Texas area for the last twenty years. Along with writing, she is a mediator affiliated with a Dallas area law office. She has a keen interest in the world economy, politics and their influence on the stock market. Phyllis’ friends often tease that her head is filled with miscellaneous information. She thinks that this is because she enjoys reading so much. Yes, Phyllis is one of those who read the newspaper with scissors in hand, on the ready to clip out articles pertaining to long forgotten public figures or historical events. She says that her only excuse is that she enjoys discovering the why’s behind the story. When asked, Phyllis says that she reads novels with the same mindset. Whether the book is a Sandra Kitt romance, a John Ehle historical fiction, or a W. Somerset Maugham classic, she loses herself in the story line as she places herself in the heads of the characters. As a writer, she reads not only to relax, but to learn as well. There is much that can be learned from the storytelling styles of writers such as John Jakes, playwright, August Wilson, and her new personal favorite, Glenville Lovell. While developing the story line and back life of her character, she often searches for poetry that encapsulates the essence of her story. For her, poetry sets the mood much in the same way as music does it for others. Phyllis says that she thoroughly enjoys the craft of writing. She states, "For me, there is nothing more pleasurable than to lose myself in the groove of melding what’s in my imagination with research and reality. Adding to this pleasure is experiencing the metamorphosis of the story and its characters." Also authored: CYPRESS WHISPERINGS (Genesis Press, 2000) ISBN: 1-58571-027-X
