About the Author
Bob Hammel, in a newspaper career that started in 1954, has covered more than 1,000 Indiana University basketball games and nearly 500 IU football games, plus seven NCAA chmapionships won by Indiana teams in other sports. Add five Olympic Games from which Hoosiers brought home 17 gold medals; personal and professional acquaintances with IU athletes and coaches before Hammel's 30 years with the Bloomington- Herald-Telephone and Herald-Times; and- maybe richest of all - memories from boyhood as a Hoosier fan. All those things, plus several books, are part of Hammel's contributions to the Glory of Old IU. Kit Klingelhoffer has served in the sports information office at Indiana University for the past 31 years, including the past 16 years as sports information director. A 1971 graduate of IU, he has also taught a public relations and promotions course in IU's Kinesiology Department the past 12 years. Many of his IU media guides and game programs have been judged among the best in the nation by the College Sports Information Directors of America.
