Practical Analog and Digital Filter Design(Artech House Microwave Library Series) FROM THE PUBLISHER
Filters are key components
in a vast range of electronics. They produce crystal clear sound in music
systems, clean up distortion in radios, televisions, and telephones, and are
indispensable in medical imaging and scanning. To aid every engineer in the many
industries that rely on analog and digital filters, this book shows electronic
engineers how to quickly master analog and digital filter design and
implementation. This hands-on guide explains in practical terms all the
essential mathematical functions so engineers can apply them directly to their
own filter design problems. The book delves into real-world implementation
issues, guiding readers away from common design pitfalls to successful filter
development.

Thede is a professor of electrical and computer engineering at
Ohio Northern University, Ada, Ohio. A former design engineer for Motorola,
Inc., he holds M.S. in electrical engineering from the University of Iowa and a
Ph.D. in engineering science from Toledo University.
SYNOPSIS
Thede's (former designer for Motorola, now electrical and computer engineering, Ohio Northern U., Ada) text provides a detailed treatment of both analog and digital filter design and implementation, with over 40 examples given for illustration of the concepts. The CD-ROM contains WFilter, a Windows-based filter design software, and the three organized programs used to develop the WFilter source code. Methods for designing IIR and FIR filters and an introduction to discrete and fast Fourier transform are included. Appendices contain lists of references, filter design software and C code, C code for IIR and FIR filter design, and information on filtering sound files, among other information. Readers will need to know C programming and be familiar with the basic concepts of linear systems. Annotation ©2004 Book News, Inc., Portland, OR
