About the Author
Laura Castaneda, a freelance writer specializing in business and personal finance, has worked as a staff writer at the San Francisco Chronicle, the Dallas Morning News, and the Associated Press. She holds a master's degree from Columbia University's School of International and Public Affairs. She won a Knight-Bagehot Fellow Fellowship in business and economics reporting at Columbia. She is a first-generation Mexican-American and lives in Philadelphia. Laura Castellanos is the pricipal of the Lamaca Consulting Group. Previously, she has been a financial planner at American Express Financial Advisors, an attorney with the US Small Business Administration and the US Department of Education, and has worked as a community mediator and served on the boards of numerous nonprofit organizations. She is also a published poet. Born in Havana, Cuba, she makes her home in Oakland, CA. Both authors are bilingual.
