This, one of many books in the "Colors of the World" series offers an inviting look into a country in Western Africa. While the book does not attempt to give detailed and complete information about the country, it offers a general overview of Ghana's land, people and history. Each color is presented in English and Asante Twi, a native language in Ghana, and represents a piece of Ghana's history or culture. Tan tells us of the drums used by native people for celebration and communication over long distances. Black is her fight for freedom from European colonialism. Blue is the water of Gahna's largest lake. Each page explains the significance of a color to the Ghanaian people of today and to their ancestors. A beautiful book with easy to read text and attractive illustrations, this would be an asset in any library.
