FROM THE CRITICS
Library Journal
A companion volume to the author's Elegant Stitches, this "embroidery idea book" is a collection of stitches useful for crazy-quilt and other stitchery projects. A major section of the book is devoted to flower shapes and stitches one might use to create them. For example, in stitching a starlike shape, such as a pansy, the outline or a chain stitch could be used for the stem; the Victorian velvet pansy or a cast-on stitch for the petals; and the fly-stitch leaf or circle buttonhole stitch for the leaves. Each stitch is illustrated with a line drawing and a photo as well as a written step-by-step description. Highly recommended for public libraries where demand warrants.
