Mask Strikes Back - Book Reviews,
by John Arcudi
Mask Strikes Back FROM THE PUBLISHER Even before the smash movie, "The Mask" had tons of fans in comic book form. This wacky mix of humor, violence and just sheer outrageousness have made it a cult favorite among readers for years. Parents, be warned -- despite the light tone of the movie, the graphic novels and comics occasionally veer into some violence (albeit, cartoonish) that's probably more suited for adults. For those readers willing to experiment, they'll love this story of four teens who, obsessed with the mask, get to see their dreams -- and nightmares -- come true when they get the chance to try on the emerald artifact themselves. No sooner does one of the teens try on the mask than he finds himself transformed into a melon-headed menace himself, and the cops decide to arrest him.
