Grade 8 Up?Economic burdens, social security, Medicare, quality of life, the outlook for retirees, Alzheimer's disease, and age bias are among the topics debated here. An introduction tells of the mixed backgrounds of the people whose points of view have been included in the essays, and emphasizes that both professional and lay opinions need to be sought when seriously considering the ramifications of these issues. Chapter prefaces set out the basic facts of each situation under discussion. Brief summaries of each author's thoughts and credentials are presented, along with three questions to keep in mind while reading. Periodical bibliographies are appended to each chapter.
