The acclaimed knitting shop Tricoter has been described as an experience rather than a store by more than one customer. Beryl Hiatt opened Tricoter (pronounced Tree-ko-tay; from the French verb meaning to knit) in the summer of 1984, a result of her lifelong passion for knitting and a desire to share that passion. In 1990, Beryl moved Tricoter to suburban Seattle and opened its doors right next to Lindy Phelps and her new gourmet coffee shop. Lindy, with a background in store design and merchandising, soon joined forces with Beryl and her unique sense of style and love of fibers.
