Fairchild Dictionary of Fashion - Book Reviews,
by Charlotte Mankey Calasibetta
Fairchild Dictionary of Fashion SYNOPSIS The reorganized third edition (which, for example, combines into the single category "footwear" the previous edition's separate categories for shoes, boots, sandals, and slippers) covers contemporary fashion terms, terms from non-Western cultures and folk costume, historical terms, terms from merchandising and retailing, and textile terms. The A-to-Z listings are followed by an appendix of fashion designers; its entries have been reduced from previous editions to brief biographical notes. Small illustrations in b&w pepper the text but don't dominate it. Annotation ©2004 Book News, Inc., Portland, OR
