About the Author
Animation artist Chad Morgan grew up in South Pasadena, California, where his passion for cartooning began early. He fondly remembers a visit from his mother’s cousin, famous animator Don Bluth: "I was about 6 years old. I remember being so excited because earlier that day I had learned to draw a character of a dog, and I couldn’t wait to show Don. When he saw it, he said, ‘Wow, that’s really good, but what if we took it and added skis and turned him to the side. ...’ He began to draw, and I sat there in awe and thought o myself, ‘WOW! That’s what I want to be when I grow up.’ From there on out it was pretty clear I wanted to draw." A self-taught artist, Chad learned his craft by studying drawing, cartooning, and animation from various books (among them several Walter Foster Publishing titles). He could also be found sneaking into life drawing classes at various art colleges around southern California. He received a tremendous amount of help from animation artist Toby Bluth, who took Chad under his wing and helped him develop a portfolio, which he began submitting to various studios. Chad is now a successful artist in the animation industry and has worked on a number of feature films for DreamWorks and Disney, including the Prince of Egypt, The Road to El Dorado, and The Tigger Movie. He worked in the story department in Toonsylvania for DreamWorks TV and has done various commercial work. Chad currently resides in San Gabriel, California, with his wife Sarah and son David.
