War of 1812 - Book Review,
by Don Nardo

From School Library Journal Grade 8 Up-Nardo opens this excellent account with a time line (1775-1816) that highlights important dates and events in the history of this "virtually unwinnable" conflict. In the seven chapters that follow, he presents the details in a clear, thorough, and easy-to-understand manner. The material is presented in two columns per page, with black-and-white reproductions, sidebars, or maps on nearly every two-page spread. Best of all, like the other titles in the series, this one is filled with primary-source material and includes interpretations by prominent historians in every chapter. A well-organized and well-documented presentation.Linda Beck, Indian Valley Public Library, Telford, PA Copyright 2000 Reed Business Information, Inc.
