Incorporated into the writing exercises in Daily Handwriting Practice, Contemporary Cursive, are many other basic areas of learning important to developing minds. For example, on the topic, "What is work," students learn about simple tools and the physics applied in using them. Students write letters, words, and sentences about a variety of content area topics appropriate for the classroom. Monday through Thursday, the weekly subjects for writing exercises range from famous inventors to famous quotations, amazing hunters to the water cycle. On Friday, a full-page exercise draws the topic to a close by reviewing what was learned earlier that week. This book is a useful and effective teaching tool because: Each letter is introduced and practiced before students are asked to use it. Curriculum topics addressed include: the alphabet, unusual animals, math, capital letter, owls as hunters, rhyming words, months of the year, whales, rivers of the world, days of the week, the water cycle, world alphabets, geography, facts, synonyms, nonsense rhymes, the seven continents, color words, alliteration insects, weather, beavers, U.S. presidents, simple machines, famous quotations, unusual plants. Native American tribe, math ,rhyming words, sports around the world, Kenya, prefixes and suffixes, candy around the world, games around the world. When students complete this book, they will take away a self-made learning tool, because the final four weeks of practice assemble into an Alphabet Book about insects. Engaging line artillustrations highlight various exercises. All 112 pages are reproducible for classroom use and perforated for easy removal.

Daily handwriting practice for a 36-week school year.

Daily Handwriting Practice is based on the premise that frequent, focused practice leads to mastery of the handwriting forms practiced. Students practice writing letters, words, and sentences. The content is based on important vocabulary words, language skills, and appropriate curriculum topics.

Each book is divided into 36 weekly sections. Practice is limited to a half-page Monday through Thursday. Friday's practice is a full page that reviews and practices the letterforms and content of the week. During the final four weeks of practice, students make an alphabet book that they may proudly take home as a record of the year's handwriting practice and progress.
