Seeking to integrate ecological, land use, economic, social, cultural, and institutional concerns of regional planning for natural resource protection and conservation at local to continental scales, the editors present 29 papers, which were largely drawn from a March 1999 workshop devoted to regional approaches to parks and protected areas in North America.
