Book Description
Written by a leading martial arts expert, this book is loaded with strong, practical information on how you can have the right attitude to defend your family and yourself. Well written simple techniques that anyone can master. Great message for women, men, young adults, and seniors alike. The author has years of Self-Defense teaching experience, and he goes right to the heart of how to quickly develop the mind-set needed to survive all Self-Defense encounters.

From the Author
My goal in writing this book is to pass on to as many people as possible the ability to live life without fear of attack. Life is often short, and we should not let fear extort away our potential to lead happy, secure lives. It isn't difficult to cultivate a way of life which keeps you safe and prepared for self-defense. This book will teach you simple steps designed to increase your awareness, develop your instinctual fighting ability, provide you with basic common-sense techniques for keeping you safe while at home, at work, and while on the go. You will also learn how to keep the children dear to you safe as they grow up. This book will make you aware of the possible threats that exist, which may cause you some fear. That fear will subside as each chapter teaches you new ways to be prepared. I hope that you will re-read each chapter five or six times before going to the next. By the end of this book, you need only be aware, for you will know what to do if attacked, and you will be mentally set to take the action necessary to protect yourself.

From the Inside Flap
Waking The Tiger Within teaches the mind-set needed to survive any attack. Even people with years of experience in various forms of self-defense have been killed when attacked, because they lacked the all-important mental conditioning for combat that Waking The Tiger Within so clearly teaches. This book will give you the skills needed to defend yourself while at home, on the street, at work, at school, and while traveling. Two chapters are dedicated to giving children the resources to deal with bullies at school, and with how to defeat the trickery of an abductor. In the Stop Button Chapter you will learn step-by-step self-defense techniques to stop an attacker in one second. The book is a must-read for all people serious about self-defense.

About the Author
Scott Flint began his training in the martial arts at age 13. He started teaching self-defense classes at West-Wind Kung-Fu Schools in 1978 and has continued to teach there ever since. In 1987 he participated as part of the United States Demonstration team at the World Kung-Fu Championships held in the Republic of China. That year the United States team led by West-Wind School's founder Mr. Ron Lee became the first overseas team to win the World Championships. In 1984 Mr. Flint was honored to lead the West-Wind Alameda School as their Head Instructor. He and his A-team won the North American Bok-Fu Championships seven years in a row. Scott was very fortunate to have been picked as one of Mr. Lee's personal students. With his guidance over the last quarter century Mr. Flint has been able to develop many exceptional black belts. He is most proud of his top students, Mr. Chris Thompson, West-Wind's Chief Instructor, and Mr. Jack Morris, Mr. Flint's first black belt student. Scott's father, Grant, an accomplished author, gave him the idea of committing his self-defense teaching to book form. This work is the result. Scott lives in the East Bay with his wife Angie, daughter Katrina, and son Jared. Mr. Flint's favorite things to do when he is not teaching are spending time with his family and practicing the martial arts.
