My First Golf Book - Book Review,
by James D. Smith

From School Library Journal PreSchool-Grade 1-Line-and-crayon drawings in soft tones depict a multicultural cast of cartoon children enjoying a day at a country golf course. Park animals, including a bluebird that appears on every page, creatively assist, but are less successfully rendered than the cheery golfers. The authors use simple sentences in large type for beginning readers, who may be forgiving of the lack of plot. Details like a carp retrieving a golf ball from a pond may please youngsters, but there is little information about the sport or how to play it.Gay Lynn Van Vleck, Henrico County Library, Glen Allen, VA Copyright 2000 Reed Business Information, Inc.
