Book Description This violin method book is designed for the beginning student of any age. After many years of combining various methods of teaching both children and adults the author has developed a simple and enjoyable approach for the study of the violin. The author use materials which help students advance technically in a gradual, logical and thorough manner. There are short, lyrical warm-up exercises and longer study pieces, as well as familiar classical and popular melodies. Ms. Rhoda has composed thirteen of the thirty-five melodies, which fit in perfectly with the development of left-hand and bowing techniques.
About the Author Janice Tucker Rhoda has taught Violin to children and adults for over 20 years. She is a graduate of the New England Conservatory of Music, where her teachers included Eric Rosenblith and Nancy Cirillo. She has also studied with such luminaries as Rudolf Kolisch, Yuri Mazurkevich, George Neikrug, Daniel Oinkham, Gunther Schuller, Roman Totenberg and Benjamin Zander. For several years she was director of the Suzuki Program at the Longy School of Music in Cambridge, MA. She has also served as concertmistress in several orchestras and performed as a soloist on television. She as designed her path-breaking series The ABC'S of Strings to support traditional and Suzuki teachers and motivate students to learn note reading.
