Reminiscence: Uncovering a Lifetime of Memories FROM THE PUBLISHER
Older adults get in touch with things that were important to them through reminiscence. The process of reviewing memories helps validate who they are and builds their sense of identity. At a time in their lives when older adults may feel most vulnerable, isolated or lonely, reminiscing and memory-sharing helps restore confidence and self-esteem and acknowledges their contribution to life. In this way, reminiscence can improve mental, emotional and sometimes physical well-being. Older adults have a powerful resource in reminiscence and this book shows how you can help them utilize this resource.
Reminiscence: Uncovering a Lifetime of Memories is an essential guidebook for anyone who has contact with older adults -- family, friends, clergy, volunteers, social workers and health care workers. The book is suitable for use in the home, hospital or day-care situation.
