This is the story of how a comfortable middle class Jewish family dealt with the political and economic turmoil caused by the end of the Czar’s reign and the onset of Communist government in Russia and how it eventually made its way to Weimar Germany where it prospered once again, only to have to leave when the Nazi rule made continued life in Berlin impossible. Provides riveting vignettes of how the cataclysmic events that shook the world between 1914 and 1945 dramatically effected the author's own life and those around him in many walks of life.


About the Author
Michael Stone was born in Latvia in 1910 and grew up in Moscow. The Communist Revolution caused his family to relocate to Berlin where he attended school and began to work in his father's wholesale hoisery business. When the Nazis became too oppressive, he emigrated to the United States where he started and then sold a firm manufacturing an anti-corrosive chemical for power plants and railroads. He subsequently joined a financial planning and investment company, retiring in 1987 to work on his memoirs. Stone has produced articles on pioneer aviation topics and was a regular contributor to The Long Island Press. He is also a published poet. Mr. Stone continues to reside in New York with his wife of nearly 60 years. He has a son and two grandchildren.
