Whatever work is not completed at the end of this time limit must be completed after school hours. Likewise, if they are giggling, fighting, and complaining, I make them pay back to me the time they have wasted. This may sound strict, but unless you keep the upper hand, no learning will take place and instituting the time limit once or twice is usually all it takes. Children tend to forget that because they are not in a typical classroom setting, they are still in school. There are a lot of freedoms in a home setting that would never be allowed in a classroom, but maintaining control is still important.
