Field Days: Irrepressible Tales of Fly Fishing, Wingshooting, and the Great Outdoors - Book Reviews,
by Charles F. Waterman
Field Days: Irrepressible Tales of Fly Fishing, Wingshooting, and the Great Outdoors FROM THE CRITICS Library Journal Waterman (Fly Rodding for Bass, Lyons & Burford, 1989) is a favorite author of many anglers and hunters. He has been freelancing about outdoor sports for over 50 years, and his many books and articles are insightful and witty. In this collection of 36 short essays-most of which are reworked magazine articles-he offers wry observations and opinions on topics ranging from fly fishing rods to pointer dogs to camper trailers. All are guaranteed to produce smiles, and a few are sure-fire knee-slappers, especially when the author tweaks the affectations of pompous people. The text is accompanied by excellent pencil drawings by Chuck Foreman. Highly recommended for public libraries.-Will Hepfer, SUNY at Buffalo Libs.
