Channeling is usually defined as the process by which a medium or psychic transmits information from a non-physical entity who speaks through them. Roman and Packer explain channeling as communicating with a high-level [spiritual] guide and bringing though verbal information. Traditionally, trance channeling has meant channeling when the medium is in a trance and not conscious of his/her words, though Roman and Packer encourage conscious awareness so that the medium herself can benefit from the messages. I appreciate this book because it is clearly written and offers a sensible step-by-step process whereby anyone who is interested can begin to learn to channel. About the Author
Sanaya Roman has been channeling Orin, a timeless being of light, for over fifteen years. A Phi Beta Kappa graduate of the University of California at Berkeley, USA, she has studied the metaphysical sciences for years. Orin has offered thousands of people a path of spiritual growth, soul contact, and expanding consciousness through books, tapes, and seminars. Sanaya has worked with Orin to write Living With Joy, Personal Power Through Awareness, Spiritual Growth and Soul Love. She and Orin have co-authored the books Creating Money and Opening to Channel with Duane Packer, who channels a guide named DaBen. How Guides Transmit Messages. Orin and DaBen Guides make contact with your soul, and their information then flows through your soul to your consciousness, translated through the words and concepts that you have available. There are an infinite number of ways a guide may transmit information to your soul. The trance state and focus help clear away personality distortion to create a clear channel for the information to flow through. To channel, you step up your frequency as you achieve a trance state, and we lower ours to match. It is not an exact energy match, but a complimentary one. We create electromagnetic fields in our dimension that are similar to yours in your dimension. As we align both of our energy fields, transmission can take place. Our ability to match your frequencies for accurate transmission is also important. As you continue to channel we learn by feedback how to monitor our transmissions and to control the electromagnetic fields. You learn how to track our fields more accurately as you become more experienced at channeling. We also give you immediate boosts of energy when you are going into trance. To help you understand this extremely complex matter, imagine that there is only one universe. Think of us not as existing in a universe apart from yours, but in the same universe at a different frequency. We are invisible to you until you alter or expand your consciousness so that you can receive our thought impulses. We are aware of each and every one of you reaching upward. We can come through you only when we set up frequencies that can match yours and thus open the doorway. We only see and hear you when we adjust our frequencies in a way that makes your universe visible to us. When you reach upward, asking for a guide, you change your energy and become visible to us. Your intent to go higher is very visible in our universe, and we are aware of you as you reach upward. Even when you become visible, we usually do not see you as you see each other. We perceive you as moving energy patterns, colors and harmonies. We perceive your world as moving harmonics of energy and life-force. When you request a connection to us, we begin to set up matching frequencies in our dimensions to make it possible. We guides view your earth reality as the three-dimensional world. The higher the dimension the fewer the limitations or obstructions. When you die, you increase your frequency in such a way as to be invisible to the earth plane, but visible to other realities. You become able to walk through walls or physical matter. It is not the density of the walls that make them impassable for you now, but the relationship of your vibration to theirs. As you increase your vibration, things that were invisible to you before become visible, and obstructions, such as walls, become transparent to you. Channeling is a skill that can be learned. Your brain is physically composed of right and left sides. Normally, the right side of your brain deals with intuition, feelings, nonverbal communication, creativity, and inspiration. The left side of your brain uses memory, logic, words, and language. It functions to synthesize, organize, and categorize our experiences in a rational way. Most often, guides transmit to the right side of your brain, which is more receptive and sensitive to impressions. Channeling requires establishment of a particular type of flow and a synchronization between both sides of the brain. This is accomplished in the calmer, more peaceful trance states, allowing greater receptivity to the higher realms. Channeling requires using your right-brain and left-brain simultaneously. Part of the challenge of receiving a guide is to let go, to learn to receive the higher flow of information (a right-brain function) and, at the same time, speak or write (left-brain functions involving action, organization, and vocabulary). Using your left and right-brain simultaneously makes it possible for the messages of the guide to be transmitted with precision and accuracy. As you channel, new pathways through the neurons of your mind are being laid, developed, and utilized, creating a change from our normal mode of thinking. Every time you learn a new skill such as typing or drawing, new neural messages and pathways in your muscles are developed from your arms to your brain. Every time you bring in more light through channeling, you will think in higher and more focused ways, even when you aren't channeling. In conscious channeling the guide impresses the message upon your mind through what might be called higher telepathy. This is the kind of reception we are encouraging, where you retain control of your muscles. Some people know the message (called clairsentient), some see the information (clairvoyant), and some people hear the information (clairaudient). Some receive the transmission as a richness of impressions that they then match with words. Some guides transmit to you using a form of higher telepathy. As in all telepathy, general ideas can be transmitted more readily than specific images such as names, dates, and details. To develop the skill of getting specific details often requires a long period of attunement with your guide. We often transmit light-images, thought-impulses, and energy level data and allow you to fill in the substance, action, and exact words that most closely matches the energy transmission we are sending. Many transmissions are best sent as pictures and images, and then must be translated into worlds using your vocabulary and conceptual framework. Guides will choose a channel with a vocabulary or skill that will be a match for their work together. Scientific guides may choose channels with a scientific vocabulary. Artistic guides may choose artists. Philosophical guides may choose channels interested in philosophy, and so on. When guides transmit information outside of your vocabulary, they will search for the closest words you have available. For instance, in referring to an organ of in the body, they may give a description of it rather than calling it by name, if you don't have the term in your vocabulary.
